Engaging in instrumental group aggression against targeted individuals often carries deep, unforeseen repercussions that can ultimately come back to haunt those who instigate or participate in such collective targeting. This isn’t just a matter of taking action against someone in the immediate sense or achieving short-lived dominance over someone as a collective; it is about potentially setting the stage for a future backlash where the very individual being targeted, scapegoated, or oppressed, may find within themselves a wellspring of resilience, where they transform themselves through the adversity, and evolve into someone with the strength and insight to return and challenge the group that once sought to undermine them. Within the past 5 years since my initial awakening, in my psychospiritual studies and reflections on my own life experiences, I at first came to view narcissism as a purely destructive force—where it was a word synonymous with arrogance, self-centeredness, and a complete disregard for others.   Having the gnosis that I don’t need an audience to shine feels like one of the greatest freedoms that I have ever embraced, where it’s not just an abstract idea—it’s a lived experience of a profound shift in my understanding of my own self-worth. For so long, I based my self-worth on external validation, where my value depended on how others perceived me, whether they approved of my choices, if they acknowledged my accomplishments, or even if they accepted me for who I am. It’s become clear to me that not everyone in the church (or within religious communities in general), truly understands or embodies the psychospiritual freedom that Christ offers, and instead, many use religion as a means to control, burden, and bind others under the weight of spiritual captivity. One would think that if people went to church or immersed themselves within a spiritual community, that they would actually take their spirituality seriously, but more often than not, what we find are people that have completely conformed their identity to religious strongholds, covert AND overt forms of authoritarianism, a superficial identity that lacks any true depth, dynamics of toxic positivity, the stagnancy of their own psychological and spiritual development, a co-dependency with the church and the people in it, and the sacrifice of their own spiritual sovereignty, personal autonomy, & the ability to think critically for themselves, where they seek to place those same burdens onto...

Through my own observations, experiences, and studies, I’ve learned that psychospiritually stagnant and incompetent leadership that is conformed to the world, operates from a place of immaturity, superficiality, and ego-driven self-interest. On the surface, these individuals might appear to hold legitimate titles, roles, or positions in a community, but their behavior reveals a profound lack of true substance, growth, or wisdom, and when we aren’t paying close attention, it’s easy to get caught up in the illusion that someone’s position grants them automatic respect and authority.
